Here For A Year … New Year’s Resolution Time!

by Allen J. Venezio on April 2, 2011

Hello loyal followers of the 5 Foot High Trumpet Guy!

One year ago this weekend, the 5 Foot High Trumpet Guy web site went active and it’s been a great year! I am looking forward to even more higher, faster and louder trumpet playing in year 2.

Today would be a great day to make a commitment to practicing more … which is what I am going to do! As you all know, without good daily practice habits, it is hard to become a better trumpet player. Max Schlossberg, one of the greatest trumpet teachers ever, was quoted as saying, “missing a day’s practice is like committing suicide.” Of course, Professor Schlossberg’s statement is an exaggeration of the truth, but, as we all know, missing practice days definitely sets you back as a trumpet player!

Therefore, it is time, my dear trumpet friends, to make that commitment to practice every day … even if it’s only for 15 – 20 minutes. When you do practice, make sure you give yourself rest periods in your practice time, almost as much rest time as playing time, especially in the warm-up part of your practice to give the maximum effect of the “exercise” you are doing.

You can follow my practice progress on my Facebook page. It can be found by clicking here and you can follow me on Twitter too. My username is @5fthightrptguy.

Until the next time, keep blowin’ baby!
